Caterpillars new improved series launched for the Arican market

Posted on : Saturday , 22nd August 2015

Caterpillar has introduced the new F2-series range of machines – 422F2, 428F2, 432F2, 434F2 and 444F2 for the Middle East and Africa markets

Depending on the model, engine-power choices include 56.5 kW (76.8 hp), 68.5 kW (93hp), 70 kW (95 hp), or 74.5 kW (101 hp) configurations. There’s a marked improvement in hydraulic oil flow – 422F2 from 125 litres per minute to 132 l/min, 428F2 and 434F2 from 125 l/min to 160 l/min and the 432F2 and 444F2 from 158 l/min to 163 l/min.
However, the operator can switch to ECO mode if fuel requirements are lesser, enabling proficient performance and controllability at a lower engine speed. The F2 series also sees the introduction of a six-speed automatic gear box for improved fuel efficiency and increased average speed while roading.
The new models feature a newer operating environment and the engine technology is expected to improve performance and fuel efficiency, stated Caterpillar. This will be achieved through a series of new developments such as a new telescopic/tilt steering column. The differential lock control has been repositioned to the loader controller, and pilot-operated machines feature new multi-positional excavator controls that enable operators to adjust to the most comfortable operating position, reducing fatigue. A forward/reverse controller has been built into the loader controller for convenience and improved efficiency.
With a restyled cab, the machine wears a modern look and has been designed primarily keeping the operator in mind, allowing maximum visibility to the loader attachment when at its full height.
The new pantograph frontscreen wiper increases the swept area for enhanced forward visibility and is complemented with a full-width, perforated sun visor. Except for the curved front window, all other glass areas are flat, enabling quick, low-cost replacement, said Caterpillar.
The cab also features a new step design with reduced height for added cab access or egress safety and a bottom step that is resiliently mounted to prevent damage from debris. An air-suspension seat provides all-day comfort, especially when using the optional heated version in cold weather.
In addition, a new LCD display with improved back lighting makes for easy reading of machine controls.
Enabling enhanced connectivity on the cab is a bluetooth-connected radio. A new keypad security system provides added protection for the machine, and a choice of cellular or satellite technology is available for use with the ProductLink telematics system for tracking machine location and operating parameters.
